Call to run marathon for Sick Kids

A MOTHER from Penicuik has encouraged others to follow in her footsteps by running to raise money for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation.

Helen Osman, whose daughter Jess has been cared for numerous times at the Sick Kids after being diagnosed with septic arthritis in her hip aged ten days old, was among 170 fundraisers taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon for the charity raising £50,000 in total.

Helen hopes more people will come forward to take part in the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run on October 7 for the cause.

She said: “Any parent who has had a child in hospital will understand the value of these charitable services.

“I feel we were lucky as hopefully we won’t have any future admissions, but some parents face a lifetime of it”.
