Call for green economy aid

EDINBURGH North and Leith Labour MP Mark Lazarowicz is calling on the UK Government to show a greater commitment to the green economy to make the new Edinburgh-based Green Investment Bank a success.

He claimed recent comments issued by Chancellor George Osborne had portrayed green policies and economic growth as at odds with one another.

Mr Lazarowicz said: “That’s not a view I share, nor is it the vision behind the Green Investment Bank. I am backing calls for the bank to be able to issue bonds as soon as possible.

“The green economy could be one of the motors behind a revival of economic growth, with Edinburgh at the centre of it.”
