Breast cancer sufferer up for inspiring role award

A MOTHER who has raised thousands of pounds for charity after being diagnosed with breast cancer has been nominated for the title of Scotland’s most inspirational woman.

Rosie Sutherland, 41, from Fairmilehead, has been shortlisted in the No.1 magazine search by her friend, Linda Hiddleston, 50, from East Lothian.

Ms Sutherland was diagnosed with breast cancer in February this year and had to endure a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. But since being diagnosed, she has been fundraising in a bid to raise £30,000 for Breast Cancer Care and has already launched two nude calendars.

“I am overwhelmed to be in the final for No.1 magazine’s Super Role Model 2012,” she said. “I certainly didn’t think I would be worthy of this nomination.”

Ms Hiddleston said: “[Rosie] has worked tirelessly and all the while she has been recovering from major surgery.”
