Bogus callers hunted after home theft

POLICE are hunting for two bogus callers after a pensioner was pick-pocketed in his own home.

The incident took place on Friday when a man knocked on a door in Swanston Place, near Fairmilehead, and told the elderly homeowner he was there to carry out maintenance work on the roof.

While a discussion took place, the victim became aware of a second man behind him who emerged from inside the property. After the suspects left, the homeowner realised that his wallet, which had been in his back pocket, had been stolen.

The first suspect is described as white, in his 30s, clean-shaven, 5ft 10ins tall, stocky build, and with a “beer belly”.

The second suspect is described as white, in his 30s, 5ft 6ins tall, with medium length dark hair and stubble.

Anyone with any information should contact police on 0131 311 3131 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
