Body find
is recalled by flatmate

A MAN has told a murder trial he discovered the body of his flatmate lying in a bedroom of a messed-up home.

Darius Reivytis, 29, told the High Court in Edinburgh that he found the remains of Maciej Ciania in his flat in Dickson Street, Leith, on January 14.

The court heard that a day earlier, Mr Reivytis and his girlfriend Beatriz Del Valle, 26, had returned from a short break in the Highlands and found Grzegorz Gamla, 26, wearing tracksuit bottoms that belonged to his alleged victim.

Mr Reivytis yesterday told the court Mr Ciania’s bedroom was in a mess and that there were bloodstains in the flat.

Mr Reivytis also told the court that he saw a green blanket in the room – when the lifted it, he saw the back of Mr Ciania’s head.

Mr Reivytis was giving evidence on the second day of the trial of Gamla, who denies assaulting Mr Ciania to his severe injury on an occasion between November 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. Gamla also denies murdering Mr Ciania, formerly of Dickson Street, on an occasion between January 12 and February 3, 2012.

The trial continues.
