Blooming event looming

residents of North Berwick are hoping to repeat their success of 2010 in this year’s Britain in Bloom competition.

Two years ago the town took the gold medal for coastal towns with a population of 12,000 or more.

This year, the only Scottish nomination in the category faces competition from towns like Bangor in Ulster, Great Yarmouth in East Anglia and Grouville in Jersey.

Roger Burnett, chair of the Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom UK Judging Panel, said: “Our visit is not meant to be stressful so please just relax and enjoy yourselves – we’re here to see the marvellous work you’ve done to improve your local areas.” He added: “On behalf of all the RHS judges, we wish you the best of luck, North Berwick.”

The judges are due to arrive on Tuesday, August 7.
