Blitz on crime and antisocial behaviour launched in Pilton
A BLITZ against crime and antisocial behaviour in a city neighbourhood has been launched.
Police officers, along with firefighters and council staff, are taking part in the campaign in the West Pilton area, which got under way yesterday.
A series of activities are planned including community-led clean-ups, targeting fly-tippers, cycle marking and bike security sessions, and joint patrols between police and environmental wardens.
Inspector Mark Rennie, from Drylaw police station, said: “By being smarter about when and where we use our resources we will be able to have a greater impact on crime and antisocial behaviour over the autumn.”
Councillor Cammy Day, the city’s community safety leader, said: “I would like to encourage residents to take part in the organised activities aimed at making the area cleaner, greener and safer for all.”
