A ROAD was closed this morning after a cyclist was knocked from his bike by a motorist in the Capital.

The cyclist was travelling along Corstorphine Road, at the junction with Balgreen Road, when the collision occurred at around 6.50am.

The road was closed for around half an hour. The cyclist was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, although his injuries are not believed to be serious.

A police spokesman said the cyclist was conscious, sitting up and talking when emergency services arrived.
