Belly laughs are the bear necessities

IT was all smiles at the St James Centre as shoppers celebrated Global Belly Laugh Day.

Amy Smith and Laura Davidson couldn’t resist a grin when they were confronted by a polar bear by the name of Fiona Manson.

Arts organisation Starcatcher, which produces creative experiences for young children, was behind the fun and games, which saw a series of “silly moments” surprise passers-by.

Rhona Matheson, director of Starcatchers, said: “The whole point of early years arts events is to create emotional spaces that help children to embrace the moment.

“With this event, we are going to be able to help adults to do that embracing too.”
