Art collection looks to be streets ahead

A NEW art collection depicting some of the city’s most iconic buildings and shop fronts is to be unveiled in the West End later this week.

The Edinburgh Life & Soul exhibiton, which features Capital bars such as Deacon Brodie, The Black Bull and Sandy Bell’s, will be revealed at a special showing in the West End on Thursday.

Polish artist Maciej Mackiewicz, 35, said he started painting the city’s street scenes after being inspired by their beauty.

He described his paintings as “an attempt to preserve the traces of past tradition and beauty by immortalising places which are the life and soul of Edinburgh”.

His work will be shown at 23 Melville Street. To attend, email reception@23melvillestreet.co.uk.
