Armed robber holds up store at knifepoint
AN armed robber held up a store at knifepoint as customers looked on in terror.
The 23-year-old shop assistant was confronted by a man wearing a balaclava and wielding a knife at the Day Today store in Boswall Parkway at around 8.40pm on Sunday.
The suspect demanded money then jumped over the counter and stole a box containing a three-figure sum of cash and international telephone cards worth around £200.
Constable Alistair McLeod said: “A male matching his description was seen in a garden in Pilton Avenue around 9pm before making off.”
The suspect is described as white, 20 to 30 years old, between 5ft 2in and 5ft 5in tall with a stocky build, and wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, light-coloured trousers, black Converse-style trainers and a black balaclava covering his face.
