Archer wins historic prize

THE winner of the Silver Arrow — the world’s oldest sporting trophy still under active competition — has been announced.

Seventeen members of the Royal Company of Archers, the Queen’s Bodyguard in Scotland, vied for the historic gong at the archery contest on Musselburgh Links, with Alasdair Macdonald declared shoot winner.

East Lothian Provost Ludovic Broun-Lindsay presented Mr Macdonald with his prize at a special ceremony.
