A choice classic

DAVID LEAN’S 1954 BAFTA winning comedy Hobson’s Choice is the fourth of Studiocanal’s Best of British Season at both Cineworld and the Cameo next Tuesday.

Based on the play of the same name by Harold Brighouse, Charles Laughton and John Mills star in this tale of a hapless 19th century bootmaker attempting to bring up a trio of wilful daughters in between regualr visits to his local pub.

Watch out for Prunella Scales, now best known as Sybil in Fawlty Towers, in one of her first screen roles.

The season concludes on July 2 with Roy Baker’s classic sci-fi thriller, Quatermass And the Pit.
