£270k boost for families needing help

AN Edinburgh charity has handed out more than a quarter of a million pounds in financial aid to impoverished families in its first year.

Elizabeth Finn Care assumed control of 35 poverty-related organisations last year and consolidated them into the Edinburgh Trust.

Since then, it has administered more than £270,000 in grants and provided support to over 800 people in the city.

Bryan Clover, director of grants, said: “Ensuring that the funds are made available to those in financial need has been the cornerstone of our work. The success can be attributed to the hard work of the case-worker who has helped to ensure fast response times and speedier payments.

“We have also developed close working partnerships with local charities and we continue to develop the service for Edinburgh residents.”
