Knife carrier sentenced

A DRUG addict convicted of carrying a knife for a second time escaped a prison sentence yesterday.

Stefan Sakatiuk, 33, admitted being in possession of a lock knife with a two-inch blade.

He was searched by police outside Livingston Shopping Centre, in West Lothian on April 5 last year. The offence meant he breached a probation order imposed to help address his addiction to drugs.

Sakatiuk appeared for sentence at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday after pleading guilty and was sentenced to 185 hours of community work.
