Panthers rout sorry Capitals

IT’S may be a case of one down, three to go, but the matches are fast running out as Edinburgh Capitals went down 7-0 to Nottingham Panthers last night as their play-off hopes hang by a thread.

The Panthers roared into a three-goal lead after the first period courtesy of Sami Ryhanan, with Jordan Fox on the powerplay and Matt Francis all on target for the home side.

Francis added his name for a second time seven minutes into the second as the Panthers laid the foundations for a rout, with Danny Meyers scoring number five a minute later as the Caps feared another meltdown.

David Beauregard added a sixth in the third period, with Francis completing his hat-trick to complete the one-sided result, leaving the Caps, with only two wins in 25, plenty to contemplate before facing Sheffield Steelers tonight.
