NHS Lothian review team is revealed

THE two consultancies that will carry out a review of NHS Lothian’s management culture have been named.

PricewaterhouseCoopers and David J Bowles & Associates will lead the review.

PricewaterhouseCoopers was responsible for carrying out the audit which revealed last month that staff had been under pressure from managers to deliver good news on waiting lists, and so had wrongly suspended thousands of people from the lists in order to massage figures.

NHS Lothian chairman Charles Winstanley said: “These expert organisations will work together to produce an independent review of cultures within NHS Lothian.

“I want to reassure our staff that this review will be comprehensive. It is essential that we reassure the public of our integrity, openness and transparency.”

The study will be overseen by a steering group, including Dr Winstanley and Unite regional officer Lyn Turner, who said: “The investigation is being carried out in partnership with trade unions, and I want staff to know that they should not be fearful in coming forward. It is a safe process.”
