Cancer drug for Scots men

A CANCER drug that reportedly kept Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed alive for almost two years may soon be available on the NHS in Scotland.

The Scottish Medicines Consortium will decide on Monday whether to approve abiraterone to treat people with prostate cancer.

Scotland is the only part of the United Kingdom where patients cannot get the cancer drug, which extends life and eases the suffering of those in the advanced stages of the condition.
