Dalmahoy duo set sights on double as Third finish first
the winning Third team in the Scottish Captains and Secretaries Championship yesterday.
DALMAHOY club Third finished first in the Scottish Captains & Secretaries Championship grand final in Glasgow.
Paul Hubbard and David Marshall claimed the Belhaven Best-sponsored title after carding a seven-under-par 64 at Pollok. They won by four shots after Hubbard, an 11-handicapper who lives in the Capital, rolled in a string of putts.
Marshall, the six-time Dalmahoy champion and MVP in this season’s Edinburgh Summer League, also played his part, mainly when he chipped in for a net eagle at the 14th, their second hole.
“Paul holed about six putts inside eight feet,” said Marshall, who lives in East Calder. “We had 24 putts in total on the greens.”
Hubbard, originally from Swansea, added: “When one of us were out of the hole, the other one was in it.”
The pair will now bid for a ‘Belhaven Best’ double after also qualifying for next week’s Club Handicap Championship grand final at Fairmont St Andrews.
