Kirk boldly sets his sights on Hibs Ladies stunning Celtic

Hibernian Ladies coach Willie Kirk believes this weekend’s fixture with Celtic is a must-win encounter for both teams and defeat for either would end any lingering title hopes, writes RICHARD PAYNE.

Celtic currently trail second-place Hibs by three points and will be confident they can pull level with the Edinburgh club tomorrow at Lennoxtown (kick-off 4:00pm) – a venue that the Hibees have traditionally struggled at over the years. He said: “It’s going to be a very tough game and I believe both teams need to win it – more so for Celtic because falling nine points behind City at this stage of the season would be too much to overcome.

“The fact that we haven’t won at Lennoxtown before is a bigger challenge to us than the Celtic squad,” Kirk went on. Elsewhere, Hutchison Vale tackle Aberdeen at Saughton Enclosure (kick-off 2:00pm) and Spartans are at home to Rangers (Ainslie Park, kick-off 1:00pm) in the final round of SWPL fixtures before the league split.
