Germans face Norway in Women’s Euros

Germany will have to take on familiar rival Norway in their bid to capture a sixth consecutive European championship
title next year, following the draw for football’s Women’s Euro 2013 yesterday.

The Germans will take on the Norwegians at the group stage for the third time in a row. Netherlands and Iceland are the other two sides in Group B.

Host nation Sweden will face Denmark in Group A of the 12-nation tournament, which will be played on July 10-28, before meeting Finland and Italy.

England, 2009 runners-up, were drawn in Group C with France, Russia and Spain who eliminated Anna Signeul’s Scotland with an agonising last-minute goal in Madrid.

UEFA chair Karen Espelund said: “Women’s football is
winning ground at a resounding pace.”
