HIBS have been linked with a move for Bohemians defender Evan McMillan.

The 26-year-old is believed to have spent the last week on trial with Hibs. McMillan started the Irish season in the centre of defence but was moved up front by manager Aaron Callaghan later in the year.

It proved to be the right decision as he ended the season as Bohs top scorer with eight goals to his name. The League of Ireland runs from March to November and McMillan is out of contract in the coming days so would be available for free.

The fact that he would not command a transfer fee, combined with his form up front for Bohemians, has seen him attract interest from Dundee United and English League Two outfit Chesterfield.

League of Ireland sides Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers are also reported to be tracking the player’s progress. Fenlon has made no secret of the fact that he is keen to strengthen his squad although he has said that he may have to move players on before he can bring any new faces in.

Gary Deegan, who made his first-team return from a broken jaw as a sub in Saturday’s defeat to Motherwell, stepped up his match fitness when he started in the Under-20s’ 1-1 draw against Ross County at Ainslie Park yesterday. Euan Smith netted Hibs’ equaliser.

Meanwhile Hibs kid Harry Monaghan has joined Annan Athletic on loan until February.
