Dylan McGowan and Jason Holt doubtful for Hearts’ Cup derby

Dylan McGowan goes off injured

Dylan McGowan goes off injured

HEARTS boss John McGlynn has revealed that he could be without Jason Holt and
Dylan McGowan for Sunday’s
Scottish Cup fourth-round tie with Hibs after both players suffered injuries in last night’s defeat by Celtic.

Holt damaged ankle ligaments and was withdrawn after 58 minutes of the game, with McGowan forced off six minutes later due to a hip problem. Both are now extremely doubtful for Hearts’ visit to Easter Road this weekend as McGlynn found his misery compounded following a 4-0 defeat by the SPL champions.

“Jason Holt has damaged ankle ligaments and Dylan McGowan has a problem on his hip, going up his side. I wouldn’t like to rule them out, but I wouldn’t necessarily be in a position to say they’ll be able to play,” said the manager
today.

“Because of the injury situation, it may well look like we are going to have to make changes. We hope Jason and Dylan are available, but there are no guarantees on that. We may be forced into changes.”

McGlynn was encouraged by the performances of all three Hearts substitutes – Andy Driver, Scott Robinson and Mehdi Taouil – last night and revealed that they are now in contention to start against Hibs.

“I expect our subs to show the right attitude and Driver, Robinson and Taouil did show the right attitude when they came on. They worked

extremely hard so of course they come into my mind regarding

Sunday.

“We’re looking to try and get goals because we aren’t getting goals no matter what way we go about it. We’re just trying to move things about and try to get the right formula.”
