Students battle for draw

Edinburgh City 1

Heriot-Watt Uni 1

City got off to the best possible start when Ross fed to the ball to Guthrie and, despite being tackled by Forsyth, the City striker got the break of the ball and fired home, writes ALEX DRYSDALE.

After the interval, Guthrie unleashed a powerful shot, but it was deflected into the hands of Saunders before Rae fired over from distance.

The students grabbed an equaliser in the 60th minute when Webster advanced down the left wing and crossed for Napier to head in.

In the closing stages, City’s trialist received the ball in a dangerous position, but was denied by a good tackle, while, at the other end, a flowing move saw Muhsin feed the ball to Donnelly and only a good block saved a goal.
