Pat Fenlon in the dock

HIBS manager Pat Fenlon was today waiting to discover if he will receive a touchline ban after allegedly gesturing to Hearts fans during the Scottish Cup final.

The Easter Road side were trailing 5-1 in the final minutes of the season’s showpiece at Hampden when the Hibs manager appeared to react to ironic chanting of his name from the opposition support.

An SFA judicial panel will hear his case this afternoon at the national stadium although Fenlon – who is charged with breaching rule 203 of the SFA’s disciplinary charter – is not expected to attend. If the panel find him guilty, Fenlon could be banned from the touchline for two matches at the beginning of the new season.

The Irishman, however, insisted after the match that the gesture was simply in frustration at his own players and the way that the 90 minutes had panned out for his side.

Speaking at the time, he also claimed that he had not realised the Hearts supporters had been chanting his name, saying: “I made a gesture in relation to the way that we were playing, we kept giving the ball away cheaply.

“I don’t know what they were singing, to be honest.”
