HIBS’ Jorge Claros joined the party as Honduras had a shock 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over the United States.
The midfielder came on as a late sub in the win over Jurgen Klinsmann’s team in San Pedro Sula. The Americans took the lead through a Clint Dempsey volley in the 35th minute. An overhead kick from Juan Carlos Garcia brought Honduras level four minutes later.
“Los Catrachos” grabbed the winner in the 78th minute when striker Jerry Bengtson took advantage of some woeful defending.
With the fourth-placed finisher in the final phase of qualifying advancing to a playoff against the Oceania champions, all six sides in the group will believe they have a chance of making it to Brazil in 2014.
