Scottish Cup to get a run-out in Rovers stalwart Laurie’s testimonial
Hearts players parade the Scottish Cup around Tynecastle after their Scottish Cup win
HEARTS supporters will get another glimpse of the Scottish Cup this weekend when their side take on Raith Rovers for Laurie Ellis’s testimonial.
The Tynecastle side will parade the trophy, which they won at the end of last season against Hibs, at half-time in the friendly match at Stark’s Park.
Hearts legends Scott Crabbe and John Robertson are expected to be on hand to take the cup on a lap of honour as part of the celebrations to mark Ellis’s testimonial year.
Ellis, whose Rovers career has spanned ten years over three different spells at the club, first joined the Kirkcaldy side in 1998. He grew up a Hearts supporter.
He is delighted to see former manager John McGlynn finally realise his ambition of becoming Hearts manager – and that his first game in charge will see him return to Stark’s Park.
Ellis said: “Its really fitting that he is coming over for his first game in charge. I think that he will be a great success at Hearts. He is very hard-working and a very honest guy – that in itself generates a lot of respect from players.”
The match at Stark’s Park kicks-off at 3pm tomorrow, adults costing £12 and concessions £6, and there will be a post-match drinks reception at O’Connell’s Bar and Diner for supporters from both clubs.
