40 exhibitors to offer tastings at whisky festival
A NEW whisky tasting festival is being launched in the Capital this April.
Tastings will be offered from up to 40 exhibitors and distillers at the Hub on Castlehill as part of the event.
Indian and Japanese whiskies will be available on top of Scottish malt offerings such as Laphroaig and Talisker.
The initiative is being launched by private firm The Whisky Lounge, which was set up by founder Eddie Ludlow 11 years ago.
It is part of a series of festivals also running in London, Newcastle and Brighton.
The Scottish Malt Whisky Society is also hosting the Edinburgh event on April 27.
Up to eight tasting master classes will be run by industry figures such as renowned Scottish blender Dr Andrew Forrester.
Critically acclaimed Edinburgh chef Mark Greenaway is also expected to be involved.
Festival spokeswoman Carol Wilkin said: “It’s just a really fun exhibition to try all the whiskies and generally talk to people. I think it’s quite good for younger people and those who are not the usual whisky drinkers as such.”
