Skills fund boosts places at college

EXTRA places are being created at a college thanks to new funding from a public education agency.

The money, from Skills Development Scotland, will provide work preparation courses for 16 to 24-year-olds at West Lothian College in a bid to equip them with vital employment skills.

The new courses cover areas such as health and social care, hospitality, office administration, housing and estates maintenance, transport and
logistics.

Nancy Cooper, who leads the Business Partnership Centre at West Lothian College, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this new range of courses to young people in the area.

“In consultation with local employers we are keen to help our learners take advantage of future work opportunities by equipping them with the necessary skills.”
