Primaries to be extended

FOUR city primary schools are set to receive permanent extensions to accommodate soaring rolls.

Planning applications have been submitted for Trinity, Wardie, Granton and Victoria primaries, with work set to begin next summer.

The number of children being registered to attend primary school in Edinburgh is predicted to rise by as much as 20 per cent by 2019.

Jacqueline Scott, headteacher at Trinity Primary, said: “It’s clear we need to respond to the increase in registrations. By using an innovative approach like this, we are minimising the amount of disruption to the school.

“It also allows us to take into account any further increases and respond to this accordingly. We look forward to unveiling the new classrooms next year.”
