Parents ‘left in dark’ over exam results
Schools may no longer have to tell parents how exam results compare with others if new rules are approved.
The Scottish Government is seeking a change in legislation in which schools would not have to include national statistics in Higher exam performances in their guide for parents.
But despite the Government offering reassurances the information is accessible online, the Scottish Conservatives have spoken against the move, insisting the information should be readily available in a handbook.
A government spokesman said: “Following a recent consultation with parents we plan to update school handbook regulations to better reflect what information parents have told us they want on their children’s statistics.”
He added: “While some parents want performance information, ethos was by far the most frequently cited factor in choosing a school.”
