Care home bid backed

A CARE home for people with disabilities or suffering from dementia is set to be built on the site of a former primary school after the plans were approved by council chiefs.

The development featuring 32 homes will be created by Midlothian Council on part of the old Eastfield Primary School in Penicuik.

The care home will also have 24 hours-a-day support facilities, a cafe and community room, and car parking. It will include 28 one-bedroom flats and four two-bedroom flats.

The main school buildings have already been demolished.
