Blind safety kits on offer
SAFETY kits that prevent young children becoming tangled in blind cords are set to be distributed across East Lothian.
Around 2500 “Make it Safe” packs are to be sent out across the county through health visitors, childminders, nurseries and playgroups.
Two children in the UK die each year after being caught up in blind cords.
The packs are being distributed by East Lothian Community Planning Partnership and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
Jennifer Henderson, RoSPA Scotland’s home safety officer, said: “With blinds already fitted in so many homes, it’s important to raise awareness of the danger and how these accidents can be prevented.”
