Award for giving pupils sporting chance
PUPILS at Newbattle School in Dalkeith are celebrating after scooping an award.
The school was recognised for using a programme from Sky Sports Living for Sport to raise aspirations in young people and inspire positive changes in them outside of school.
The award was given at the Youth Sport Trust’s conference on Wednesday, with Newbattle one of only five schools from across the UK to be victorious.
They were presented by Baroness Sue Campbell CBE.
The two-day event included workshops and seminars allowing schools to share ideas on how sport can improve achievement. There were also keynote speakers, policy updates and advice from top practitioners.
The Youth Sport Trust is an independent charity set up by Duncan Goodhew MBE and Sir John Beckwith CBE.
