City jumpers switch sides

Capital long jumpers Allan Hamilton and Lisa Ferguson (both Edinburgh AC) will transfer allegiance this weekend to help out Glasgow Cobras in what is effectively a Scottish Select for the final McCain Inter-City Indoor Challenge at London’s Lee Valley Indoor Arena.

Hamilton, who will also double up in the 60 metres sprint, as will Ferguson, is hoping for a new indoor best in the long jump as he moves to a full run-up for the first time this winter.

“Allan’s been concentrating on a short run-up as he worked on certain technical aspects but now he’s ready to use the full approach,” explained his coach John Scott.

Ferguson will be hoping to consolidate on her recent new personal best jump of 6.11m as she looks towards the outdoor season.
