Athletics: City stars at Scotstoun

HIGH jumpers Jayne Nisbet and Emma Nuttall will have to fend off Edinburgh University’s Kirsty Barr in the Scottish National Championships at Scotstoun, Glasgow tomorrow and Sunday.

Lisa Ferguson, who also goes in the 100 metres, should have a good tussle with EAC clubmate Sarah Warnock for the long jump title, while Allan Hamilton (EAC) bids for the men’s long jump crown. Commonwealth Youth Games 200m champion Tom Holligan (EAC) could succeed the seven-times champion Nick Smith to the 100m title and Capital sisters Emily and Louisa Stewart will contest the metric mile on Sunday. Lasswade’s Guy Learmonth has opted for the 400m.

Capital hammer-throwers Andy Frost and Susan McKelvie are both chasing season’s bests.
