X Factor producer joins Glasgow media hub

GLASGOW’S growing “media city” development on the Clyde has attracted the producer of top television shows The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Thames, part of FremantleMedia UK, has taken a 1,335sq ft unit in the Hub on a five-year lease through property consultancy CBRE.

It follows expansion by existing tenants Editworks and Raise the Roof Productions, associated with television shows Location Location Location and Kirstie’s Handmade Britain.

Suzy Lamb, head of entertainment at Thames, said: “When choosing a new office for our expanding Thames Scotland business, the Hub was a clear choice for us given its strong reputation for attracting creative and innovative companies. The fact that both the BBC and STV are on its doorstep adds further to the feeling of a mini media city down here at Pacific Quay.”

Thames, which is also behind Take Me Out and All Star Family Fortunes, will use the Hub to produce shows such as the Channel 4 quiz 1001 Things You Should Know, hosted by Sandi Toksvig, and a new lottery quiz show hosted by Nick Knowles called Break the Safe for BBC One. Glasgow City Council has acquired two units on the ground floor on a three-year lease for the Creative Clyde Business Incubation Centre. Digital Enterprise Glasgow, a project developed by Glasgow Council, will run the incubator to accelerate the growth of digital and creative startups through the provision of rent free office space and a mix of intensive business support.
