Wood wins £9m Texan gas turbine deal

WOOD Group, the Aberdeen-based energy services giant, has secured a new multi-million dollar contract in Texas.

The group's gas turbine services division has won a six-year operations and maintenance (O&M) deal from East Texas Electric Co-operative for its San Jacinto and Hardin generating facilities in the Lone Star state.

The O&M contract for both the facilities is valued at $13.9 million (9.1m) raising the total value of contracts with East Texas Electric to some $80m.

Mark Papworth, head of Wood Group's gas turbine services arm, said: "Receiving these O&M contracts clearly demonstrates our ability to provide industry-leading levels of service, quality and responsiveness."

The latest contract follows a "turnkey" project awarded to Wood Group last year for the construction and commissioning of both generating plants.
