Wood Group wins big Australia contract
Wood Group has won a multi-million-pound contract to provide underwater pipeline engineering for a liquefied natural gas development off the coast of Western Australia.
The work, on the Browse development some 425km northwest of Broome, will be carried out by the Aberdeen firm's Kenny subsidiary for Woodside, Australia's largest publicly traded oil and gas explorer and producer.
Wood Group Kenny chief executive Steve Wayman said: "This is a technically demanding and complex deepwater development that will enable us to demonstrate our continuing commitment to excellence in international offshore projects."
Design work on the project has already started and will take 12 to 15 months. Wood group would only say the contract was worth in the "double figures millions".
