Wiseman Dairies edges ahead despite warning on cost rises

ROBERT Wiseman Dairies rose slightly yesterday, despite warning it was grappling with a fresh round of cost increases as it attempts to pass on the impact of price rises and up its payment to farmers. The shares closed up 0.75p at 327p.

Aggreko, the temporary power supplier, dropped a further 9.5p despite analysts at Dresdner Kleinwort upgrading the company to "buy", saying recent falls offered a buying opportunity. The bank did not increase its forecasts for Aggreko, but said recent storms in the US would have boosted business there. The shares closed off 1.6 per cent at 572.5p.

On Aim, battery maker Axeon eased 0.5p to a new low of 24p after Wednesday's profit warning following slower sales to power tool manufacturers.

Ramco Energy, the Aberdeen oil exploration company, fell 5p to 54p after it said it was unclear when its attempts to secure a joint venture to enter Iraq would be completed. It yesterday revealed a 1.2 million pre-tax loss for the six months to 30 June.

Medical billing software company Craneware hit another new high, up 3p to 239p, helped by an analyst upgrade earlier this week.
