Water first
THE new era in water services begins on Tuesday when more than 100,000 Scottish businesses and public bodies are able to choose their supplier in a move being hailed as a world first for the water sector.
Three suppliers have been licensed to provide the services – Satec, Aquavitae and Business Stream – with two more applications, from Osprey Water Services and Ondeo Industrial Solutions, under consideration.
Alan Sutherland, chief executive of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland, said: "We anticipate that choice will result in cost savings and service improvements."
