Edinburgh Airport sees passenger numbers decline
PASSENGER numbers at Edinburgh Airport declined at a faster rate in January than in previous months, figures from operator BAA showed today.
Traffic at the airport declined by 5.8 per cent last month compared to January 2008, more than double the December decline of 2.5 per cent.
It was also nearly 12 times the 0.5 per cent decline seen in the whole of 2008.
However, of Scotland's three airports, Edinburgh reported the most positive results. Glasgow experienced a decline of 12.2 per cent in passenger numbers while Aberdeen dropped 8.6 per cent.
BAA's UK airports handled a total of 9.4 million passengers in January 2009.
