Tourism target 'will be missed'
SCOTLAND is not on track to meet a key tourism target, according to the head of the national tourism body.
Philip Riddle, chief executive of VisitScotland, said "significant action" would be needed to meet the target of increasing revenue by 50 per cent by 2015. In 2007, tourism revenues crept ahead by 0.5 per cent to 4.1 billion. Mr Riddle described the increase as "marginal".
The UK Tourism Survey 2007 revealed international tourism to Scotland fell by seven per cent to 1.3 billion, but domestic tourism increased by four per cent to 2.8bn.
