THREE organisations have joined forces to create what they claim will be the biggest investor showcase in Scotland.
Informatics Ventures will double the size of its annual flagship event, Engage Invest Exploit (EIE) following partnership deals struck with the Edinburgh BioQuarter and the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI).
The event, on 9 May next year, will be attended by more than 100 investors from the UK, Europe and the United States and, for the first time, there will be more than 60 technology companies from across Scotland exhibiting across the energy, informatics, and life science sectors.
Informatics Ventures, which is funded by Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Funding Council, established EIE in 2008. It encourages start-ups and early-stage companies to meet individual investors, angel groups and venture capitalists.
Since the inaugural event, it has introduced more than 150 start-ups to investors, helping them raise tens of millions of pounds of seed funding.
A series of events leading up to EIE13 kicks off next month with the “Life’s a Pitch” programme, with the first workshops hosted by consultant Bill Joos from Silicon Valley.
The workshops run from 25 October until 2 November in Edinburgh and Glasgow and will be aimed at helping companies pitch their businesses to customers and investors.
Gordon Stuart, of Informatics Ventures, said: “We welcome the BioQuarter and the ECCI as our partners. It is great to have them on board and they will play a huge part in the future success and growth of EIE.
“Due to the overwhelming demand from companies and investors to be involved in EIE13, we will be moving to a new, larger venue.”
