Ecometrica attracts fresh funding
A SCOTTISH firm whose “green” software is being used by companies as diverse as oil major BP and insurance giant RSA has secured fresh funding.
Edinburgh-based Ecometrica said the investment – understood to be in excess of £500,000 – would be used to expand its global sales and marketing and for further product development. The funding has been led by Highgate Tech Fund and marks its first backing of a Scottish technology company.
Ecometrica has developed a web-based system that allows businesses to measure their greenhouse gas impact and adopt methods of reducing or offsetting it.
So-called carbon accounting is rapidly becoming a requirement for many bigger companies and is a pre-requisite for most corporate social responsibility programmes.
Ecometrica chief executive Richard Tipper added: “We were impressed by the Highgate team, they have all succeeded in the software and technology space and the expertise that they bring to the table in addition to the investment gives us the confidence to accelerate the business to success.”
