Cities gear up for superfast mobile broadband service

CONSUMERS in Edinburgh and Glasgow will be among the first in the country to experience superfast mobile broadband when Everything Everywhere launches next week.

Former T Mobile shops in Princes Street, Edinburgh, and Buchanan Street, Glasgow, will re-open under the brand of Everything Everywhere – which is the new name for an alliance between T Mobile and Orange.

Everthing Everwhere, which recently revealed it has signed up an additional 250,000 contract users within the last three months, will be the first network to offer new generation mobile speeds.

Olaf Swantee, CEO of EE, said: “Our plans to revolutionise the UK communications market with a faster network and an exciting new brand for the digital age are built on solid investment and a simple belief that customers deserve better.”

The company plans to rebrand 700 stores around the country under the Everything Everywhere brand. By the end of 2012, the company aims to cover 98 per cent of the UK with 4G coverage.

Packages start at £36 per month for up to 500MB, rising to £56 per month for customers who wish to download 8GB of data.

Regional manager Derek Smith said: “Customers signing up to the new service will be able to download media and access the internet at phenomenal speeds.”
