Australian online payments specialist Eway expands in Edinburgh
AUSTRALIAN online payments specialist Eway is to expand its Edinburgh office as part of its plans to “shake up” the UK’s e-commerce market.
The firm, which currently employs three people in the capital, plans to take on six more staff in the coming months. Since opening the office last year, it has won a range of clients including Derby County Football club and genetic history website Scotland’s DNA.
Founder and chief executive Matt Bullock said: “We dominate the Australian market and we try to do things very differently. One way we can do that is by charging per hour, instead of monthly or yearly, so people can try it out.”
The firm is tapping into social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to help its customers increase their profile and generate more sales. Bullock, who set up Canberra-based Eway in 1998, said some small businesses can be reluctant to embrace online selling, but the firm uses “credit card standard” systems to protect payment details.
