£375k investment drives Blipfoto expansion plan
Photo sharing website Blipfoto has secured £375,000 in additional funding to drive its expansion plans.
The latest funding round, which takes the total investment in the Edinburgh firm to almost £700,000, was led by Steven Morris of the ESM Investments syndicate and includes Gareth Williams, chief executive of flight search engine Skyscanner.
As well as attracting private investment from North America, fresh funding was secured from previous investors such as serial entrepreneur Ken Morse, the Scottish Investment Bank and Ian Ritchie, who was appointed as chairman in May.
The site lets its users upload just one photo a day and hosts 2.5 million images. Founder and chief executive Joe Tree said: “I’m really excited about this next phase of growth – 2013 is going to be a huge year for Blipfoto.”
