Talk of HSBC pension changes
BANKING giant HSBC is expected to announce imminent further changes to its final-salary pension scheme, which had already been closed to new members in 1996.
However, it is understood that the scheme will not be closed down. City speculation is that further accruals to the final salary scheme for existing members may be stopped from some future date.
A third of HSBC's 55,000 workforce in the UK are in the scheme.
