T-Mobile bid war looming
A BIDDING war for T-Mobile UK is looming after it emerged that Spanish firm Telefonica is looking at buying Britain's fourth largest mobile phone operator.
Spain's leading telecoms company has been spurred into action after it emerged that O2, its own UK mobile business, could lose the top position in the British market if Vodafone purchases T-Mobile UK.
It is also reported that France Telecom is considering the merits of forming a venture between Orange, its UK mobile business, and T-Mobile UK.
Deutsche Telekom is looking to sell T-Mobile UK, which analysts value between 2.6 and 3.4 billion, following several years of under-performance.
O2 is the largest mobile phone operator in the UK, with Vodafone the second largest.
